About us
A Nairobi team that builds software people actually use
We started Mackdish Solutions after watching Kenyan schools and shops pay for systems that nobody could operate. Our rule since day one: if the bursar or the shop attendant can't use it on their own by week two, it isn't finished.
Our story
From client websites to our own software products
Founded by Macknon Vulimu, Mackdish Solutions builds websites and online stores for Kenyan businesses — and develops and runs its own subscription software.
Alongside client work, we build and operate four live products of our own: Uplift, EduTech, CleanHost and MyStockSystem. Running our own software means we carry the same uptime, support and billing responsibilities we design for you.
We scope in plain language, quote a fixed price, ship a working build every two weeks, and train your staff before we hand over. When something breaks, you reach the person who built it.
Our mission
Make well-built software affordable for the Kenyan businesses that keep the economy moving — schools, shops, wholesalers and service SMEs — and prove its value with numbers, not promises.
Why local matters
- We visit your school or shop, see how the work actually happens, and build for that — not for a demo video.
- Payments are quoted and invoiced in shillings, with M-Pesa accepted for milestone payments.
- Support is answered in Kenyan business hours by the person who wrote the code, on WhatsApp.
- We know Daraja, ETIMS, CBC reporting and bulk SMS rules because we ship them every month.
Based at Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, Nairobi. You're welcome to visit.

Macknon Vulimu
Founder, Mackdish Solutions
Macknon Vulimu is a software engineer with a background in Information Technology from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST). He founded Mackdish Solutions to close a gap he kept seeing: Kenyan schools, retailers and small businesses wanted to go digital, but most software built for them was either too expensive, too complicated, or built by people who never visited the businesses they were designing for.
Under his direction, Mackdish now builds both custom client systems and its own SaaS products — including Uplift, , Edutech, Cleanhost and Mystocksystem — with the same standard: if the person using it can't run it confidently within two weeks, it isn't finished.
His goal for Mackdish goes beyond Kenya — bringing the same fixed-scope, locally-supported approach to SMEs across Africa as the company grows.
